Our Support in Venezuela
In Mérida, Venezuela, the day center 'El Jardin de la Esperanza' currently supports a group of 15 girls aged 6 to 14 and a group of 5 teenagers aged 14 to 19, along with their families in Los Curos. The second group, initiated in 2022, supports a group of 20 girls in Los Maitines. In March 2023, thanks to the contribution of the Foundation, 'El Jardin de la Esperanza' finally became the owner of its own headquarters in El Valle, specifically in the La Carbonera area.
El Valle is a rural area situated between 2,000 and 3,500 meters above sea level, located about ten kilometers from the historic center of Mérida.
Once an important destination for local and foreign tourism, currently, due to the limited availability of fuel and the complex humanitarian crisis that the country has been experiencing since 2016, only small groups of people can be seen on weekends who come to walk and enjoy the cool climate. Potatoes, vegetables, and legumes are cultivated, and livestock farming is developed. In the new facility, summer camps were held in July for the two 'Jardin' centers and in August for the children of Bibliomulas.
An orchard for various vegetables is being started on the agricultural land around the headquarters, to support the meal programs of the two day centers, aiming for better sustainability.
