In 2008, the first block of “Nyumba ya Watoto 1” foster home was opened in Ukunda. The five buildings accomodated 40 children. Every one of them has eight children with a “mum”. The mums are foster parents in charge of educating, looking after, feeding the children, and making them play and feel at home.
