Rassegna stampa

In the village of Nalepo, a remote Maasai community on the border with Tanzania, the Chincherini Foundation continues its efforts to make the right to education a reality and improve the living conditions of children and their families.

After building, in collaboration with an American NGO, a solar-powered drinking water well and some temporary structures that enabled the first children to start studying, the Foundation approved a new and ambitious project: the construction of an entire elementary school in Nalepo.

The initiative

The work, which began in September 2025, includes the construction of the first two classrooms, two toilet blocks, a kitchen, and a small warehouse for storing materials and food.

The overall project aims to build a comprehensive school, meeting the standards of the Kenyan Ministry of Education, which will include:

  • an elementary school ( Grade 1 to Grade 9, equivalent to our elementary and middle schools),
  • Two pre-primary school classes,
  • A baby class,
  • A room for teachers,
  • And related toilet facilities.

The new structures, built of masonry, will provide safe, welcoming and durable spaces-a true landmark for the entire community.

Goals

  • Ensuring the right to education for children in an isolated rural area where distances and lack of infrastructure discourage school attendance;
  • Reduce inequality by providing equal educational opportunities even in the most remote parts of the country;
  • Promote children’s nutrition and health through the provision of two meals a day during school hours;
  • Support local teachers-currently three-by providing them with adequate space and tools for effective teaching.

Beneficiaries

The direct beneficiaries of the project are the many boys and girls of Nalepo village and neighboring villages, who will finally be able to study in a safe, well-equipped and state-recognized school.
In the long run, the initiative will help strengthen the entire community, creating new prospects for development and breaking the cycle of poverty that too often limits access to education in rural areas.

The Partners

The project is implemented in collaboration with the Kenyan Ministry of Education, from which the Foundation receives guidelines and technical support, and with the direct involvement of the Village Chief and the local community, who actively participate in the construction of the facilities.
