Smiley Hands in Kenya: Together for the Rebirth of the Smiling School

In the informal settlement of Korogocho, on the outskirts of Nairobi, the Treviso-based organization “Una Mano per un Sorriso – ODV” has been supporting children from the most vulnerable families since 2014, offering them education and protection.
At the heart of this commitment is the Smiling School, a middle school that for years has been a safe haven and a place for growth.
Due to the deterioration of the building and its furnishings, a major renovation project has been launched.
The initiative includes new classrooms, a canteen, solar panels, a teaching garden, and a small sports field to improve both learning conditions and students’ quality of life.

In the informal settlements of Korogocho, on the outskirts of Nairobi, life unfolds amid poverty, waste dumps, and dreams of redemption.
It is here that the Treviso-based organization “Una Mano per un Sorriso – ODV” has been working since 2014, offering children and young people in the community a real alternative to life on the streets, to violence, and to abandonment.

Our Foundation has chosen to support the initiative by contributing to the purchase of school furnishings — desks, chairs, lockers, and educational materials — to make the school a welcoming and functional place for students.
