Since 2010, Dr. Claudio Dutto has been volunteering his professional skills at our care homes in Kenya. Initially offering to carry out basic dental check-ups, he later set up and equipped a fully functional dental clinic, with the help of his colleagues, providing all the necessary tools to care for the children.

The project initially focused on dental check-ups and teaching proper oral hygiene practices. Later, a dental clinic was built and the first pieces of equipment were introduced: from a basic dental chair, forceps, and essential instruments, to an autoclave for sterilizing tools, a radiographic arm, and a scanner to take X-rays and enable accurate diagnoses.

In November 2017, the Dutto Dental Clinic received recognition from the Presidency of the Republic, which awarded thirty Orders of Merit of the Italian Republic to citizens who had distinguished themselves through acts of heroism, commitment to solidarity and humanitarian aid, efforts to promote social inclusion, the advancement of culture and legality, and the fight against violence.

The official statement on the website of the Presidency reads:

Claudio Dutto, 63 years old (Riva del Garda – TN), Officer of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic: “For the generosity with which he has volunteered his services as a dentist to care for children and for setting up a specialized clinic in Kenya.
