Last December, in Taormina, little Emmanuel—a two-month-old baby from Venezuela suffering from a severe heart condition—arrived in search of hope. His journey became possible thanks to an extraordinary chain of solidarity: Ignazio Pollini, coordinator of El Jardín de la Esperanza in Venezuela, managed the complex emigration procedures; the Foundation, with dedication and commitment, covered the cost of airfare and provided accommodation for his mother; Dr. Agati and the team at the Mediterranean Pediatric Cardiology Center in Taormina made the life-saving surgery possible, successfully operating on the little one.
After the operation, Emmanuel spent a few days recovering with his mother in Letojanni, where they were warmly welcomed and cared for. Today, he has returned to his family, finally safe and healthy.
As always, the support of the volunteers from Misericordia of Letojanni was essential. They accompanied mother and child throughout the hospital journey, providing transport and constant assistance during such a delicate time.
Emmanuel is the fourth child treated in Taormina thanks to this extraordinary collaboration. A result that fills us with joy and strengthens our commitment: to continue offering hope to many more children like him, who deserve a better future.
